Welcome U.S. Postal Service Employees and Annuitants!
Aetna® has been a proud provider of health plans for the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) program since 1959. And we’re excited to bring that history of experience to the Postal Service Health Benefits (PSHB) program starting in 2025.
Here’s what we know right now
-
The PSHB program is a new benefits program, within FEHB, administered by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). The PSHB program will provide health insurance to eligible Postal Service employees, annuitants and their eligible family members. Coverage will start in 2025.
-
No. Postal Service employees, annuitants and eligible family members will continue to participate in the FEHB program for the 2024 plan year.
-
Yes. The Postal Service Reform Act states that most Postal Service annuitants entitled to Medicare Part A are eligible to enroll in Medicare Part B. This includes any eligible family members. Enrollment will occur during a six-month special enrollment period (SEP). Individuals who qualify for the SEP will get a separate notice prior to April 1, 2024.
-
Enrolling in PSHB will not impact your other benefits, including:
- Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP)
- Federal Flexible Spending Account Program (FSAFEDS)
- Federal Employees' Group Life Insurance (FEGLI), or
- Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP)
